Tombow Pencil Co., Ltd. (Head office: Kita-ku, Tokyo; President: Junichi Fukushima) will release four “Dinosaur Pencils” designs (product name/pack of 6/price: 770 JPY (700 JPY excluding tax)) featuring school pencils (2B hexagonal shafts) and cases with popular dinosaur illustrations in limited quantities from January 22,2026 at major stationery stores and retail shops. The perfect back-to-school gift for dinosaur fans and more.

The dinosaur illustrations and the dinosaur ecology information on the accompanying original cards were supervised by the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, one of the world’s three largest dinosaur museums. The illustrations are the work of KEITA, who is known for his friendly illustrations that emphasize the academic realism of dinosaurs. (KEITA https://jurassic-design.com/)
Each pencil barrel is printed with a dinosaur illustration using wrap around transfer film, giving a pearlescent finish that shines in the light. A symbolic dinosaur skull is printed in silver on the top of the pencil barrel, adding to its appeal.
The dinosaurs shown are (from left in the illustration below) Fukui raptor, Spinosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, and Triceratops. These dinosaurs were active during the Cretaceous period (approximately 145 million to 66 million years ago).
The pencil case and accompanying original cards are packed with educational content including detailed explanations of dinosaurs’ overall length, the period they lived in, their classification, where fossils have been found, and individual characteristics. Through dinosaurs, children and their parents can learn about the history of the Earth and the evolution of life.
