最高賞The 2005 Leadership Award を受賞
株式会社トンボ鉛筆（社長・小川晃弘）の100%出資米国法人American Tombow Inc.(所在地・Suwanee, GA 30024,U.S.A.)のGordon Haight(ゴードン・ヘイト=写真=)社長は、米国事務用品卸組合(Office Product Wholesaler Association・略称OPWA)の年間表彰で、最高位の「The 2005 Leadership Award」を受賞しました。この模様は３月１日付のOPWAニューズレターで公表されました。当社は2003年春にOPWA年間優秀製造業(Manufacturer of the Year)を受賞、これで２回目の栄えある受賞になります。
OPWAは、事務用品流通・販売に貢献した企業を選出し、その積極策と行動力に対して表彰を行っています。選定基準は次の５点で、年間を通じてOPWA加盟社と協調した企業活動を行った企業を、全組合員の投票によって選出しています。
(１）企業ポリシー=顧客重視度、取引契約（返品・支払いサイト）の公平さ、等。
(２）行動姿勢=納期対応、協力姿勢、約束の遵守、等。
(３）人材=能力、熟練度、誠実さ、知性、責任感、等。
(４）商品=商品の良質さ、品質、パッケージ、等。
(５）販促活動=店頭効果、注目をひく、印象付ける、等。
この表彰のトップにあるのが、リーダーシップ賞(Leadership Award)で、2005年はAmerican Tombow Inc.の社長Gordon Haightがこれを受賞しました。表彰に際してOPWAは、「氏は一貫して質の高いビジネスを展開し、同世代の人によって高く評価された。92年にジョージア州に事業所を移転し、TOMBOWを大いに成長させた」としています。
OPWA Leadership Award This year's winner, Gordon Haight, Tombow, USA is a person displaying the qualities of industry leadership. Nominated individuals must display dedication and longevity to the industry, business acumen, forthrightness and integrity while having a cooperative spirit. Through his career in the office products industry, Haight has consistently maintained high personal and business standards, and has been recognized by his contemporaries in the industry. Gordon worked at Hallmark for seventeen years, where he grew his career within the Sales & Marketing area of the organization from Product Manager to Regional Sales Manager. He worked with Dymo Corporation, Scripto, Eberhard Faber and Empire Berol as well. Haight joined Tombow in 1991 as President/CEO and accepted the challenge of restructuring operations and propelling the business forward. He relocated the entire company from Westlake Village, California to Atlanta, Georgia in July 1992. Since the initial move to Atlanta, Gordon continued to grow the company to greater levels. He subsequently expanded the facilities to seven times the original size to handle Tombow's growth. Originally from Sherrill, New York, Gordon and his family settled in Dunwoody, Georgia where he is an active member of the Dunwoody Country Club. He had his first taste of the south when he attended Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina. He continued his education with graduate studies at the University of Kansas while working at Hallmark. |
